Its been a great performing arts season so far! We attended: West Side Story, Grades 4-8 Orchestra, HS/MS Solo & Ensemble, HS Music Awards and HS Orchestra and STILL have Guitar Ensemble left! I get tired just thinking of all the events.

And this is just for 2 kids!

I don't know how they do it, but the Music & Theater Depts somehow get more out of the kids each year. If you missed the HS Orchestra Concert Monday night, you missed a huge event. The solo pieces in the 1st half of the program were unbelievable. While it wasn't my favorite John Williams Star Wars theme, the one performed was a technical stand out, the only thing missing (and I am sure I am alone in this thought!) was having the opening paragraphs used in the movie projected onto the back wall of the stage just like in the movie. When Louise Pajak had the Seniors stand and be recognized it became VERY CLEAR that there are MANY large shoes to be filled next year. If this were a sports team I'd say that maybe 2009-2010 will be a "rebuilding year", maybe we can trade a couple wrestlers to Manchester or Bow for a few of their top musicians?!?!?!

But next year has possibilities; I heard a rumor that the orchestra will be doing the 1812 Overture outdoors with live cannon! Just kidding, though I think we'd stand a fair chance at getting them if we pursued it...that's a challenge I'd gladly take on.

We go to all the same events and I never see you -- despite my new glasses. You didn't mention the football games or the Disney parade. A lot of seniors are leaving, but the juniors already wear big shoes and a couple of softmores were playing big. Next year will be fine.

I've been going to these things for years. The kids are amazing, but the production tends to be less than entertaining. I know I'm a redneck, but the piece I liked best was the wizard of oz medley. I thought the lincoln thing was out of place -- band played second fiddle -- and no one knew what to do with the art-as-music medley.

i would have loved for the band to come in to their cadence, leave to same, and play some of the fun stuff we enjoy at football games.

How about you?

Len,

I'm pretty hard to miss! Between my size and general volume and then a video setup usually in back by the entrance coridore (for power)...I'm not too subtle.

I have not attended a HS or MS band concert yet, but picked my daughter up last night after the band concert at least. She was working lights (her latest skill) for the show.

I do see your car routinely in front of me at the MS dropoff, if some crazy guy honks his horn, that'll be me saying hi.

Oh. That's you. LOL. Were you in Lynn today?

I got quick beeps from two cars on my way home. I actually stopped to see if something fell off my car. You never know.

I've only had the glasses for three events. Before that, I just listened...mostly. I'm sure a lot of people think I'm stuck up -- Julie Dicarlo tells me that everytime she sees me (I never see her). It's not true. I just have 20-50 vision.
