We are watching To End All Wars in English. Based on the book The Miracle on the River Kwai (1962) by Ernest Gordon. The kids will spend two days watching this movie. Any chance they will read the book and do some analysis and writing? Uh...it's June 10 and this is Timberlane.

Let's not forget the upcoming "Talent Show" for the 6th graders.
While their teachers are involved in move-up day for the incoming 6th grade class, the students will be corralled into the PAC for a "talent-show".
I guess they couldn't schedule one of those all important assemblies that day.

They can't read the book probably becasue the level of the book is at grade level and most kids can not read a grade level. Had a similar issue a few years ago.

My 6th grader read 0 books this year. I guess reading is no longer as important as it was once. I expect there will be more movies in our kids future.

6th grader tried to refuse to go to school today. He thought it was stupid to go the gym all day to sing songs and play games as no teaching was being done today. Made for fun morning.

short classes yesterday for the whole school due to some senior event; over a week waiting for the last math test to be graded; no one noticing that powerschool is down. I wonder if we even hit 150 teaching days this year...

Power school issue was noticed, but figured it was the normal delays that happen too often.

Did you hear about the school in CA that has to add 35 days on to the school year?

Apparently, they were not in school enough for all the 1/2 days they took, so now they have to do this summer.

The newscast said the Administrators failed the math test determining how long the school day had to be for credit.

So we can assume that the classes which have seniors, juniors and or sophomores mixed in are really inefficient for the underclassmen?

Yes. In fact some underclassmen were allowed to take finals along with the seniors. Study period for the rest of the year for these underclassmen.
