New video on http://danvilledelivery.com reveals tax impact of Free Kindergarten and budget woes at the SAU.
This is no surprise to the voters of Danville. We voted down the warrant, but for those of you who thought kindergarten would be free, this is a worthwhile reas -- especially with warrants coming on a new teacher contract, new construction, and costs associated with BS. |

| I don't know that I ever thought the kindergarten would really be zero impact. I did (and do) think that kindergarten is a good idea for every child and this does make that possible. But I did at least think the administration really believed it was zero tax impact. That they may have known bothers me more than that it cost tax money. |

I believe that every child should have the opportunity to attend kindergarten. If the only way to get a program is to deceive the public, I find that unacceptable and unconscionable.
I read on another blog, the school could have used the overrun money for kindergarten to pay for the overrun at the middle school and still have money left over (and not taken away from the curriculum budget) to pay for some much needed NEW textbooks. |
