| Mr. Brown was pretty aloof when he said we should go the SB meetings if we have concerns. I email and snail-mail the board. I made the board aware of the forum and invited them to join or at least read. So far not one has joined, and 1 board member got upset that I sent her an email. |

| For what it is worth I have posted a longer more general set of comments on this issue at one of my blogs - http://tinyurl.com/5z45mu |

Thirdly it would defeat the purposes of having a representative elected board. Board meetings should be about getting things down and board members should be doing their homework and talking to the people they represent outside of the meeting time.
It is of course quite appropriate for people to bring issues to school board members outside of meetings. They can do it in person, by phone, by letter and by email (though I have read at least on complaint about a constituent using email to a member of this school board). |
From the Plaistow Town Crier:
| Quote: |
| The School Board and the School Budget Committee believe they serve the SAU. The SAU believes it serves the NEA. No one on Greenough Road believes they are paid to serve parents, students, or taxpayers. |
From the Atkinson-Reporter:
| Quote: |
| School committee members should be the spokespersons for the townspeople they represent, much as our legislators are or are supposed to be. I have never heard anyone say that they brought a problem with their child's education to their town's school representative and saw some positive results. Tragic! Maybe if enough persons did demand more from them something would happen. The school administration needs to wake up and take a long hard look at the caliber of education that they are endorsing - and they would readily understand why this is called "the dumbest" generation. |
Why do we, the taxpayers, elect school board members who believe their job is to only support the SAU? If that's true, why go through the process? Wouldn't it be easier for the SAU to hand pick it's own support system by submitting applications?
School Board Members........wake up!!! We elected you to represent us, the taxpayers. You should be looking for our best interests. You should care and listen to what district parents are saying. No one should be annoyed or upset over an email from a concerned taxpayer. Your name and phone number is posted on the SAU website. Did you really think people would not contact you? Why did you run for the position if you don't care about the people you represent?
From the School board minutes May 20th workshop
| Quote: |
Mr. Baldwin opened the meeting at 7:19 pm noting the reason for this workshop was to improve communication and promote team spirit between board members and the administration.
There were some concerns relative to communication which if left unaddressed, might result in a breakdown of trust between respective parties. It is the responsibility of both parties to maintain proper lines of communication. |
Maybe a workshop to improve communication and promote team spirit with the people you represent would be more appropriate! |

Was any reason given other than a polite refusal? |
