Watched a few minutes of the sb meeting replay while drinking coffee this morning, it is more entertaining than Sat morning cartoons.
3 SB members asked about the change in traffic pattern and if there would be a map available before the 1st day of school, Several members has been at the HS since the pattern change and were confused and many went the wrong way.
Lasalle reported no map, they would have bodies en mass the first week to direct people. I guess the point that he did not get is there are hundreds of parents who will be descending on the school the first day who will be attempting to use the old traffic patterns. There is now a staff entrance, how many parents are going to attempt to use that when the general entrance has gridlock? How many MS parents do they expect will park between dropping off their HS student before letting off their MS students? If the parking lot monitors tell parents to move on are they going to take the assigned parking of the teachers so they can not park when they get there.
It does not take much to cause grid lock in the parking lot.
But no fear, Lasalle said there is 10 minutes between start times so all will be fine.
I think the admin should publish a map on the HS and MS website which might help a bit and give every student a copy to bring home on the first day of school. |

My map of the new traffic pattern is shown on Len Mullen's site at:
http://danvilledelivery.com/
The green arrows are student dropoff paths. Red is staff parking path, blue is bus entrance. Note that the direction of travel in front of the PAC is REVERSED from previous years!! This is an accident waiting to happen.

| Has anyone else experience problems with the school cable channel? I tried to watch tonight's SB meeting but I had a black screen. |

I finally viewed the Sept 4 SB meeting this morning. Apparently a discussion took place before the official start of the meeting regarding the changed traffic patterns at the HS. While discussing the 1st day of school at the start of the meeting, Mr LaSalle stated that the board would later discuss traffic issues. It never happened. Probably forgot to bring it up again for the public since the board had already discussed the issue earlier. Somehow it doesn't seem right that this conversation took place before minutes could be recorded. How many times has this happened? Could this be the reason why no minutes exist when Mr Tardiff was appointed as a consultant?
The board also approved spending up to $94k to have studies done on the high school, middle school, and Sandown North. Administration is looking for options to improve the facitlities at the high/middle school so that they can present these options to the public. Talk of BOND might be hitting us within the next 5 years.
Mr LaSalle wants to combine Sandown Central with Sandown North. Sandown Central is the oldest bldg within the district. A cost analysis will be done to present to the voters for expansion at Sandown North. |

I think if there is a quorum of the board even if it is not an "official" meeting there needs to be minutes done.
Wasn't there an issue in Atkinson about this with the selectman? No wonder the SB and Lasalle can't "remember" when decisions were made. They were apparently made at clandestine meetings which they don't want the public to know about.
SB where are the meeting minutes for all these secret meetings?? |
