Looks like some parents are not happy with the leadership of their schools and how it is going down hill.

As parents and taxpayers,
we are proud
of this district's well-funded schools
and talented teachers.
But research and personal experiences
have led us to believe the leadership
of SAU 16 is failing our children.
While social and emotional needs
are critical to our
children's successful upbringing,
there is a substantial body of research
proving that academic challenge
actually enhances emotional growth
and self-confidence.
The current SAU 16 leadership
has also tragically abandoned
our district's long-standing tradition
of comprehensive, thorough, parent,
teacher, and community
involvement in decision-making. |

Looks like perhaps Exeter has the same fate as Timberlane. |

SAU 16 includes 7 school districts. The towns of Brentwood, East Kingston, Exeter, Kensington, Newfields, and Stratham each elect a school board to oversee that town’s public education up through grade 5 plus there is a cooperative district that handles grades 6 through 12. There are two high schools - Exeter and SST. Things are a bit more complicated there than in Timberlane and our SAU which has only 2 districts. That would explain some of the administrative overhead issues people bring up. It also complicated the feeder situation into the middle and high schools.
Now I'm not saying there are no problems but I do think that all the facts have to be looked at in a balanced fashion. |

They might be more diverse and have more schools, but we only have 4 feeder schools to MS and Timberlane still have vastly different students showing up at MS.
I've had Admin at the MS tell me it is about emotional growth not learning during the MS years.
I believe they took Leveling out of their schools so those who didn't perform as well did not feel bad about themselves. Timberlane does not do leveling.
Both districts use Everyday math and Mathscape, programs many do not feel are in the best interst of their children.
It seems we have alot in common with Exeter. |
