Interesting reading from the Atkinson Reporter site.
Poll: Schools not properly preparing kids
| Quote: |
| School districts are increasingly tying student performance to teacher pay. Americans seem to support that trend. Sixty percent said the amount of pay teachers receive should be based at least in part on the performance of their students. |
Since Timberlane likes to follow the trend of other school systems, I wonder when we'll jump on board too. |

this is tough to do at the instructor level and we already have the power to do it at the district level. if we are unhappy with the performance of the school system, all we need to do is not approve the warrant that pays for the next contract. as in, "Times are tough, you're lucky to have a job, and we'll talk about money after your next performance appraisal."
I'd like to tie administrative salaries to performance. When Mr. La Salle's contract is up, the school board should look at this. When interviewing his replacement, get a committment to achieve at some level relative to the state/nation and tie some significant part of his compensation package to that. |

Sounds like a great idea. That way all the good teachers will leave for other districts and we can replace them with teachers who can't get work in better schools. I'm a little unsure on how that would be better for the students but I'm sure it will save money. |
