I'll go first. My fifth grader's teacher left early today to pack for Disney. No teaching this afternoon, Monday, or Tuesday. _________________ "I've been teaching here for 20 years so please don't assume that kids can add, subtract, multiply and divide integers without problems. | Most of my student's HS teachers will be in but the majority of these teachers have planned on showing movies for Monday and Tuesday. |

My kids before going off to school today told me they only expect to have one real class today. Interestingly enough the same teachers that taught back in December.
BTW, my kids will tell you some of their teachers do not teach on a regular class day. Are these classes included in the no teaching number. |

I still have hope for a good Monday:
My HSer told me today that her science teacher told the kids that teachers have been instructed not to waste these 1.5 days on movies and the like.
But in the end, we'll just have to see how it goes.

| It shouldn't be too difficult for school administration to stroll down the corridors and view dark classrooms throught the door windows especially at the HS since 98% of the classrooms are in use throughout the day. |

all teachers there. They did not want to be.
Only 1 or two teachers taught at HS level. No problem with Class size largest class was 9 students. child said most classes they just sat there. Teachers did not want to introduce new material as would have to reteache on Monday.
MS student was introduced to new material this week, but was already told it would be covered again on Monday-tuesday next week. I figure they got the memo not to show movies this week, but will next week as a reward for those who attended school this week. |

I was at the HS this am around 7:00. No traffic entering from the east. No traffic in the parking lots. The teacher lot was maybe 20% full at that time. I was going to keep #1 home today but he said his math teacher was holding regular classes this week. Jeff Hill is the teacher. I sent him a note thanking him for teaching this week. He is also in the building by 6:30am in case anyone needs any help. _________________ "I've been teaching here for 20 years so please don't assume that kids can add, subtract, multiply and divide integers without problems. Parking lot survey proves telling. My sophomore had classes of 6-8 kids today. My fifth grader read for an hour and played computer games. I'm going to score this a nonteaching day. _________________ "I've been teaching here for 20 years so please don't assume that kids can add, subtract, multiply and divide integers without problems. | My students did not attend school on Tuesday. This decision was based on how productive teachers were on Monday. Too many movies! One student went from movie to movie for 5 periods and knew that Tuesday would be the same. Would the same results occur next year when students miss school because of the new school calendar? Wonder how ADM will be affected? School administration must be concerned about losing state funding since that's their top priority. It's always about how much money they can rake in and no so much the quality of education. |
